Unpublished photograph of Aaliyah in London’s Kensington Hotel on Kensington High Street in 1996. I’d brought with me as a backdrop an African batik cloth from my mother’s collection and hung it up behind her. Her mother was in the room and appreciated the touch. We all agreed, family first.
